church, held on Friday, Decern,

Mrs, Meeker, the guest speak

Mrs. Edwin Schneebock sung
a group of lullabies, accompan
ied by Mrs. Redman, and Mrs.

Play In the Crusade for Christ."
Tea was served by circle 2,

as the background for the tea
table, which was centered with

A group of long-time friends
gathered at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. F. H. Cofcr on High street
Saturday evening for a no-host
dinner, followed by several
hours of cards.

TO MARRY
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burger of Rockville, Minnesota, havo an
nounced the engagement of their daughter, Burdette Marie, to
RT 3c Andrew Soulc, USN, and son of Dr. and Mrs. Andrew A.
Soulo, 1045 Main. Miss Burger is employed at the Barnes-Hind
laboratories in San Francisco, and was a houscguest at the Soule
home while Andrew was home on a 15-day furlough from Treas
ure Island, California, where he has just finished radar training.
No wedding date has been set.
Friendly Circle
Members and guests of the
Friendly circle met Thursday,
December 7, at the home of Liz
rie Little, 2444 Orchard way,
for luncheon and the annual
Christmas parly and gift ex
change. Pearl Marin was the as
sisting hostess. Luncheon was
served at one o'clock to Ipha
Brown, Arbliur Stone, Violet
Vance, Estclle Smith, Agnaec
Lowe, Grace Bock, Nona Hall,
Fannie Goddard, Alberta Allen,
Lydia McDonald, Kathryn Bill
ings and Roy, and Ruth Berry,
and after the exchange of gifts
Mrs. Little, president of the
club, conducted the business
meeting.
Plans were made for a dinner
to be given in two weeks for
members and their families and
friends of the club. The exact
time will be announced later.
Wed in November
Gcncvra Whitclcy, daughter of
Mr. Charles Martin of Stockton,
California, became the bride of
TSgt. . Randall B. Jiggar, son
of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Jiggar,
1847 Earlc. The ceremony took
place early In November at the
post chapel at Stockton,
Mrs. Jiggar is a graduate of
the San Joaquin General School
of Nursing, and was a recent
recruitment secretary of the
Red Cross. She is now on the
staff at St. Joseph's hospital in
Stockton.
Sgt. Jiggar was at Chanute
Field in Rantoul, Illinois, for
six months, and is now attached
to the training aide's office in
Stockton.
The young couple went to
Monterey, California, for a short
honeymoon.
Rites Read Here
At a beautiful ceremony on
Sunday afternoon, December 3,
Patricia Kltchln, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kitchin,
2128 Madison, became the bride
of James L. Reed, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Reed of Prine
vllle. The bride was lovely in a
black velvet suit with yellow
accessories, and wore a corsage
of yellow rosebuds.
Mrs, Gerald Schalton was
matron of honor, and wore a
corsage of white carnations. Ray
Keed, brotner oi the groom, was
best man.
The ceremony was performed
at the home of the bride's aunt,
Mrs. Orrin Kitchin, and the
young couple were married by
President E. E. Burroughs of
the Mormon church.
A reception immediately fol
lowed the wedding, and the
large wedding cake was cut by
the bride and groom, and served
to their friends, and later the
bridal party enjoyed a chicken
dinner at the El Padre.
Out-of-town" guests included
the mother and sister of the
groom, Mrs. John Reed, and
Elizabeth, and Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Reed of Prineville.
Other guests were Mrs. A. M.
Nesllne, Mrs. E. E. Burroughs,
Mrs. Curtis Daniels, Mrs. Julius
Bradshaw, Mrs. William Olson,
Mrs. D. E. Weathersbee, Mrs.
Harry Moore, Mr. and Mrs.
Dallas Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Clif
ford Brink and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Leon Kitchin and family,
Mrs. Orrin Kitchin, and Mrs.
Gerald Schalton.
The groom is a MM2c in the
navy, and is home on a 30-day
leave. Mrs. Reed plans to re
main with her husband until
he is again called for further
overseas duty.

Council Lunch
The Girl Scout council enter
tained the leaders and assistant
leaders of all local troops with
a dessert luncheon at the Episco
pal parish house on Saturday
afternoon, December 2. Hazel
Morrison, program committee
chairman, assisted by Mrs. K. E.
Hutchinson and Mrs. D. H. Os
born were in charge of arrange
ments. Mrs. D. W. Holloway, training
committee chairman of leaders,
gave a talk about planning activ
ities for scout groups, and troop
leadership.
Hazel Morrison discussed pro-,
gram plans for the year, Mrs. L.
F. Carter made general an
nouncements, and Mrs. Lowell
Kaup disclosed plans for several
Christmas vacation parties for
the troops.
An interesting display of arti
cles, made by Girl Scouts and
Brownies, filled a large tabic,
and included tray favors, table
decorations, Christmas gifts,
Christmas cards, and calendars.
