space made possible through
more careful engineering and

Where Do You Stand?
It was Nathinitl who said, "Can any good thing eome
out of Naiareth?" It was Judas Iscariot who betrayed the
Lord for thirty pieces of silver. It was the Jewish people
who said, "Away with Himl Let Him be crucified." "Let
His blood be upon us and our children." Yen, when we
think of this crucifixion scene with all Its injustice, hatred,
and suffering, our hearts are filled with contempt and
sympathy. How could human beings be so heartless and
cruel and unjust? How could any man be so low and
depraved as to betray his own Lord for thirty pieces of
silver?
Far be it from any of us to have a part in the crucifixion
of the Lord. Never would we be found guilty of betraying
the Lord for thirty pieces of silver.
It must, however, be obvious to all thinking people that
a paralysis of indifference to spiritual thinqs has taken
hold of the people of our day and aqe. As the preacher
poet of Birmingham, England, G. A. Studdori-Konnedy, has
writieni
"When Jesus came to Golgotha they hanged Him on a tree.
They drove great nails through hands and feet, and made a
Calvary.
They crowned Him with a erewn of thorns, red were His
wounds and deep.
For those were crude and cruel days, and human flesh was
cheap.
"When Jesus eame te Birmingham they simply passed Him
by.
They never hurt a hair of Him, they only let Him die;
For men have grown more tender, and ihoy would not give
Him pain.
They only Just passed down the street, and left Him in the
rein.
"Still Jesus eried, 'Forgive them, for lhey know not what
they del'
And still It rained the winter rein that drenched Him
through and through)
The crowd wont home and left the streets without a soul
to see.
And Jesus crouched ageinst a well and cried for Calvary."
