Klamath Falls Elks lodge Thurs
day evening on the occasion of
the observance of Pearl Harbor
day, December 7. Col Van Or

thing of his experience in the
South Pacific combat area, as
well as to outline suggestions
for community cooperation with
the Murine Barracks program.

1383, Veterans of Foreign Wars,
with a citation for his assistance
in compiling records of depart
ed comrades for benefit of the
post. For meritorious service,
McDonald has been awarded the
American Citizenship medal of
VFW.
Lions Stress Bond
Buying At Meeting
A meeting of the Lion's club
was held Tuesday, December 5,
in which the interest was divided
between the Venture club and
buying bonds for babies.
The Venture club, with three
sales girls headed by Geraldinc
Crawford, sold 35 1: y bonds in
excess of $650. The quota for
the organization was set at
$5000. .
A special attraction was the
showing of a war film, stressing
the importance of bond pur
chases, called "Freedom Comes
High."
Guests at the meeting were
John Janssen, B. H. Trippet,
L. R. Thompson, Don Gram, and
Sgt. Clifford Smith. .

PTA is sponsoring" a social eve
ning December 8 at 7:30 p. m.
in the school gymnasium. Bridge,
pinochle and other games will
be played, and refreshments will
be served by Mrs. Scharfenstein.
According to "Baldy" Evans,
the final name band attraction
for Klamath Falls dancers this
season will be "Tiny" Hill and
his orchestra. "Tiny," who tips
tho scales at 305 pounds, is
well known throughout the na
tion as "America's biggest band
leader."
He made an appearance here
with his orchestra in the spring
of 1042 and at that time the
dancers were unanimous in
their praise for his pleasing per
sonality and his marvelous
dance music,
"Tiny," coming to the armory
Wednesday, December 20, fea
tures himself on the vocals.
Featuring the type of music
that makes your toes tap,
"Tiny" and his boys arc equally
proficient in their renditions of
waltzes, fox-trots, rhumbas, tan
gos and the more recent swing
tunes. ,
Charles Yoder, Navy,
Killed In Action
Mrs. Ernest Mullis, Marion
apartments, was advised this
weekend that her brother,
Charles W. Yoder, 28, radar man
3c, U. S. navy, was killed in
action while on duty on an air
craft carrier In the South Paci
fic. Yoder had visited here sever
al times with his sister. Ho is
survived by a wife and two
daughters, Paula and Jan, one
of whom he had never seen, and
his mother, Mrs. Clara Yoder,
all of Portland.
