cording to Andrew Loncy Jr.,
supervisor of music In the city
schools, who attended the con
ference representing the state of
Oregon.
The institute is sponsored by
the Music Educators National
conference and will be held, Ap
ril 5 to 8, Inclusive, in Missoula,
Mont. Representatives attend
ed from Oregon, Washington,
Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and
British Columbia.
Wayne Hertz, head of the mu
sic department of Central Col
lege of Washington, Ellcnsburg,
.presided over the meet. The In
stitute will feature three select
groups picked from outstanding
I music atudents of the northwest
'who will meet in Missoula and
servo as clinic and demonstra
tion groups.
The institute will close with a
concert and Is to bo directed by
outstanding national conductors.
Carl Brickcn, conductor of the
Seattle symphony, will conduct
the orchestra, the band will be
conducted by II. E. Nutt, famous
Chicago band director, and
Loncy has been chosen to direct
the chorus.
