Bill Hackett, 191-pound guard

day in the ninth Associated
Press poll,
Hackett, a 21-year-old junior
from London, O., who has been
elected captain of the 1945

against Michigan on Saturday.
He was on the field the full 60
minutes and smeared virtually

Seniors composed the quintet

In the second tussle a five
made up of Juniors ran wild
over Merrill to the tune of 34-

of a chance and was hopelessly
outclassed all the way. The
local boys held a 17-5 lead at
the halfway mark.
Jim Palmer grabbed ' high
scoring honors with 19 tallies,
while Larry White was next
with seven. Kandra and Hend

the Merrill hoopsters.
The final contest saw a
Freshmen-Sophomore outfit put
the blocks to a Henley-Bonanza
combine by the lop-sided count
of 33-8. The visiting firemen
were never in the ball game at
all and the K-men were able to
score almost at will.
Bus Bussman led his team

December 1. Coach Cook has
made a tentative draft of the
boys that will compose the Pel

follows: fope. I'aimer. mason
Berry, Zarosinski, Thorne,
Meade. Perkins. Noreen, White
Noel, Beihn, Wirth, Anker and

means definite as it may be cut
at any time, but it is unlikely
that any more names will be
added. i
The Pelicans will play a sched

with Weed on December 1 and
ending in a tilt with Grants

Southern Oregon conference

the K-men entertaining Medford
and will wind up with the above

On February 23-24 the district
tournament will be played at
the Ashland Normal school to

Coach Cook has several good
boys on the squad that have
shown definite possibilities of
becoming outstanding ball play

White, Jim Noreen and Bob
Perkins, all of whom showed up
exceptionally well in the recent
intramural tournament at the
high school. Bill Meade and
Jerry Thorne are both rangy
lads but show a lack of exper

playing experience in conference

Huro-crt was chosen to arbi

one of the irnto fans busted him
on the beak.
The way we get It, Parks
was about as useiul during the
fracas as two tails on a cow
and after he awarded the first
tumble to Mr. Mask there was
such a storm of protest that
Herbert felt he must defend
the honor of his ancestors.
The battle raged for fully
three minutes before American
Legion custodians, Rcndarmc.t,
local gallants and wild wlinmcn
broke it up, but not before an
unidentified fan smashed Herble
in the .mooter, making the blood
flow freely from his -injured
proboscis and hurting his feel

Tough Tony and the hooded
hoodlum then proceeded to go
at it in earnest with Ross cut
ting loose with several back
breakers to subdue Mr. Mask
and knot the count.
Only three minutes were left
and the bout ended In a draw.
We think this a good time to

by Caesar's toga, let them re
main rasslers and not attempt to
become referees, an art they ob
