Capt. John Beaskey
Wounded In Action
Capt. John S. Bcakey of
Salem, for many years traffic
engineer for the Oregon State
highway department, Is reported
wounded in action In the Euro
pcan theater, according to of
ficial announcement from the
war department Tuesday.
Bcakey visited in Klamath
Falla In the Interests of the high
way department and is well
known here. It Is thought that
his wounds occurred during the
early part of the Normandy
campaign. Beake'y's wife Fern
lives at 410 East Rural avenue.

Navy Urges Men to
Sign For Radar
Broadening its search for
men possessing basic aptitudes
fitting them for training In ra
dar, the U. S. navy is urging
all men entering the navy eith
er as enlistees from the 17-year-old
group or as Inductees from
the selective service age group,
who have at least one year of
high school algebra, to take
the navy's Eddy test for radar
training.
This was announced by Re
cruiting Specialist Dan Schrei
ber of the Klamath Falls navy
recruiting station, who said it
is likely that many men with
such a background may qualify
for radar training,, leading to
quick advancement in naval
service as well as to opportuni
ties in the postwar field of
electronics.
