WASHINGTON, Nov. 24 OP)
Hope that the pending post-war
hlithway bill will prevent "any
WPA road building," is ex
pressed by Representative Mott
(It-Ore.), ranking republican
member of the house roads com
mittee.
Mott told a reporter that
"We'll get a pretty good bill
out of conference," though he
expressed regret that the total
amount to be made available Is
not lurgcr.
Highway legislation passed
by the senate provides total
of $l,:i.',0,000,060 for a three
year period. The house bill calls
for $1,500,000,000. Mott said he
proposed an amendment to the
house bill adding $230,000,000
this week, Just to test the sen.
tlmcnt of the committee" but
found the majority determined
on the billion-and-a-half figure.
