In Salem last Tuesday nite,
Tough Tony Ross turned on the
heat in no uncertain terms to
thoroughly wallop the "Grey
Mask" in their main shindig.
But wait a minute, laddies, the
boxing commission, in the per
son ol Chairman Harry Levy, or-
dered the match declared an
even-Steven affair.
The hooded hoodlum had to
be lugged to the dressing room,
- according to a story in the Sa
lem Statesman, and to add in
tuit to injury the commish
ordered both purses held up
until the two gladiators meet
again this week.
Well, we had another photo
finish right here in our own bail
iwick Friday night when Pete
Belcastro and the selfsame
"Mask" twisted torsos to a draw
at the armory.
Pete showed he still had
plenty of the old moxie by
taking several vicious head
butts from Mr. Mask and turn
ing them to his own advan
tage. The Weed Assassin not
only weathered the storm,
but proceeded to dropkick the
hooded heel so hard that he
thought he had just made a
field goal.
This all leads one to wonder
if the "Mask" isn't slipping a bit
or if the other body benders on
the circuit aren't catching on to
his tactics. When the varmint
first appeared in northwest mat
circles, one cranium crunch was
enough to send his opponents
reeling around like Lushwell on
Saturday night and the masked
mauler then disposed of them in
short order, but now it seems to
be a slightly different story.
