n keening with a. tradition in
augurated several years ago, spe

be held at 11 o clock in the morn
ing on Thanksgiving Day, it was
announced this week by Rev.

with the observance of the day
will be offered. The public is
cordially invited to attend.
is understood that any bond
which has been purchased dur
ing the month of November will
apply to the quota.
It Is tho fervent hone of the
executive co-chairmen, Hay Har
lan and C eve bnldcr. that the
full county quota bo raised dur
ing the first weeK of the drive,
which, If accomplished, will put
Lake county among tno first to
raise their allotted quotas In the
state. If this can be accomplish
ed It will relieve the bond com
mittees considerably, in that sec.
ond calls or contacts will bo
eliminated.
At the bond drlvo dinner held
nt Hotel Lakcvlcw last Friday
noon, It was brought out by
Burt K. Snider, who is In charge
of raising tho farm quota of
S130.000 for the county, and
who is also a member of the
state farm war drive committee
whose quota Is $12,000,000, that
farmers will be able to ouy
more bonds than In the other
drives as the drive comes more
opportunely for them. Ho also
cxnlalned thnt farmers can est!
mate their taxes fairly close and
purchase "C" tax notes now and
use them to oav their taxes with
later. They will apply on me
auota lust the samc as bonds
and they can be kept the same
as bonds. Snider also empha
sized the fact that people do
not need to fear the security of
bonds for they are backed and
endorsed by tno u. a. govern.

Malin
"I told you we were ncaririR India!"
mcnt lust ns currency is secured,
It might well be said that our
bonds arc just as safe as our
chances for victory arc sure.
Harlan gnvo a few facts to
dispell anv doubt that might ex
1st as to the governmental need
for more money and therefore a
continued need for the public
to buy bonds even though tne
victory bell is being rung every
day by our troops at tho front.
Ho pointed out thnt hospitaliza
tion costs were mounting and
the terrific Increase in need for
supplies overseas made this the
crucial time for heavy bond pur
chases by those remaining on
the home front.
Lot's all buy bonds early and
be the first to go over the top.

Auto Accidents Not
Always Two-Vehicle
Collisions, Report
The average person Is prone to
think that the average motor ac
cident always involves two or
more vehicles. This conception,
says Secretary of State Robert S.
Farrell, is inaccurate. .
For example, during the
month tf September for Oregon,
there were 18 traffic fatalities,
of which only two were accidents
involving two or more vehicles.
Nine deaths were caused by
crashes involving . only one ve
hicle: five deaths were non-colli
sion accidents, and the remaining
two were collision involving a
vehicle and a fixed object.
