Why Be a Member
of the Church?
With a numbar of people church membership Is only an
unnecesaary evil. It tacms to ba quite a popular doctrina
with a numbar of people that if one pays his debts, daala
honestly with his neighbor!, and lives a good moral life
that the God of tha universe will ba plaasad to accept tham
in tha great judgment day. On cannot, however, believa
such a doctrine if ha reads his Bible.
Hare is what God has revealed to us In tha New Testa
ment: ONE MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH TO BE
SAVED. "Christ also is tha head of tha church, being him
self the savior of tha body." (Eph. 5:22).
ONE MUST BE A CHRISTIAN TO HAVE HIS NAME
WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE. "And ii any was not
found written in the book of life, ha was cast into tha laic
of fire." (Rev. 20:15).
Friend, if you believe the Bible but feel that church
membership is not essential to your salvation, consider this
question: Why did Christ leave tha portals of glory, tha
presence of God and tha Holy Angels and coma to this earth
of sorrow, sickness and death, suffer tha reproaches of sin
ful men and finally be crucified and shad Hia life's blood
for the church if we can ba saved outside?

that believeth not shall ba damned." Matt. 18:15, 16.
