papers, so had to remain during

going all day long," she wrote.
"Shirley (her daughter) was
luckier than some as they sat in
the library which adjoins the
junior hall. In this hall the

"Teachers took turns to watch
outside for buzz bombs and give
warning if one was approaching,
and thc girls were allowed to run
under : the stage until it. had
passed over or exploded."
At every sound, she said, the
girls stopped work and listened.
When they recognized it as a

"relaxed and went on with their
work." But when tho call
"danger" came "they ran to tha
