We are just getting into the bad part of the forest
fire season. The best way to fight forest fires is
to prevent them. This is where every one of us
can help. Every man-caused fire must be prevented.
Every lightning fire, and every unavoidable acci
dental fire, must be fought promptly, and put out
while small.
We had a fine record of forest fire prevention
last year. This record is a credit to Klamath Falls.
Let's do even better in 1944. Klamath County is an
important sector of a green, timbered Oregon. By
Keeping Klamath Green, we are doing our part in
the bigger job-to KEEP OREGON GREEN.
The mills and logging camps of Klamath County
are making a mighty contribution to. the war ef
fort - furnishing the No. 1 vital war material,
WOOD. These forest industries helped to build our
community they will help keep us prosperous af
ter the war. They will provide jobs and payrolls
for our homecoming heroes. They will provide ma
terials to help rebuild a war-torn world.
The kind of life we live here, much of the prosper
ity we hope for in the postwar period, will depend
upon green, growing forests-wisely managed-and
properly protected from their great enemy-FI RE.
