Anothor giant Pondoroio pine ii going to war
Our forests have answered the call to the colors.'
Hundreds of thousands of our Pacific Northwest trees
are on the fighting fronts of the world for wood is
essential war material, just as important as steel.
More of our forest crop is being harvested every
day, to fill the unending demands of the war for
wood. We must give our forests every possible care
and protection, to help them carry on under the shock
of war production. Particularly, we must guard them
against fire. Our forests will keep on producing, for
war and for peace, if they are properly handled and
protected. But they are not fireproof. '
All man-caused forest fires must be prevented this
year they , should be prevented every year. No
more can the smoker and camper go his careless
way through the woods. Every spark MUST be put
dead out. No more can the brush burner take a
chance. There is too much at stake.
Most people are careful with fire. Most people know that it
is unpatriotic to be responsible for starting a forest fire. Most
people know that they are giving aid and comfort to the
enemy when they do this thing. But-

There is a thoughtless, indifferent or criminal minority.'
These must be curbed. It's a wartime job of first priority here
in the Klamath country to prevent forest fires. Let's do it, and
help to-'
