HAYMAKER
KANSAS CITY American
elk are suchcxcltable creatures,
Park Director William T. A.
Cully roports, that the usual way
to move them is to build a crate
and tote them one at a time. He
estimated it would take three
weeks to move the herd to new
quarters 135 feet away by
that method.
Cully had an Idea. He built
two fences, 18 feet apart, be
tween the two pens. Then he
put a bale of hay in the elks'
new home.
The elk fell for the bait and
moved themselves.
