ross group, were decorated re
cently for their part in the bomb
ing attacks on nazl-hcld France
leading up to the Invasion by
allied forces.
Among the airmen Is Stuff Ser
geant Charles T. Wright, 23, a
bull turret gunner, who received
tho Oak Leaf Cluster to tho Air
Medal. Ho U tho son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles 8. Wright of route
3, Klumuth Falls. He was for
merly a woodworker with the
Knlpino Plywood company. His
wife, Mrs. Abblo T. Wright, lives

nical Sergeant Mickey Butler. 19
son of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. But
ler, 4849 Summers lane, Klam
ath Falls, Ore., waist gunner in
an AAF B-17 Flying Fortress,
has been awarded the Air Medal
with one Oak Leaf Cluster for
"meritorious achievement while
participating in sustained aerial
operations against the enemy."
Sergeant Butler attended
Klamath Union high school and
wag employed by the Southern
Pacific railroad of Klamath Falls
previous to his enlistment in the
AAF on December 15, 1942 at
Klamath Falls, After completing
basic training, he attended radio
school at Scott field and received
aerial gunnery training, qualify
ing him for a position as gunner
on one ' of the big four-engine
bombers.
At the completion of advanced
training -with heavy bombard
ment aircraft at MacDill field,
Florida, and Lakeland, Florida,
the sergeant transferred over
seas into the Mediterranean the
ater of operations J a member
of a bombardment group oper
ating with the 15th air force.
He has been overseas four
months and has participated in
33 missions over European, Bal
kan, and Italian targets, and his
first mission was flown over
Imotski, Yugoslavia, on March
30, 1944. Among other impor
tant targets, Flying Fortresses in
his organization have participat
ed In missions over enemy instal
lations at Ploesti, Rumania,
Wlcner-Neustadt, Austria, Gyor,
Hungary, Varese, Italy and Tou
lon, France.
