MAYOR ASKS
FOR CARE
OVER FOURTH
The following statement has
been issued by Mayor John Hous
ton in regard to accident-control
over the Fourth of July holidays:
I ask every citizen of this city
to accept personal responsibility
for avoidinit accidents over the
Fourth of July period, and thus
enable our community to take
an active part In the nationwide
Fourth of July safety campaign
now being conducted by the Na
tional Safety council.
Let us make this Fourth of
July a sort of "D-day" for civil
ians by dedicating it to our loved
ones on the firing line. We can
do this by staying home and
thereby saving gas, tires, cars and
lives needed to speed victory and
hold down the battle toll.
This is little enough for us on
the home front to do for those
on the battlefront. This year, of
all years, we must put victory
firit on the Fourth!
John H. Houston,
Mayor.
