TO BE CAREFUL
An appeal to children to safe
guard themselves by avoiding
acts of carelessness around war
busy railroad cars and tracks has
been issued-through the public
schools by the Southern Pacific
company, L. B. McDonald, vice
president in charge of operations
for the railroad, revealed today.
Boys and girls who arc old
enough to drive automobiles,
and those who ride bicycles, are
urged to approach all crossings
prepared to stop, and are warn
ed against trying to "beat the
train."
Youngsters are further warned
not to play around railroad cars,
climb on them or crawl under
them on side tracks or in trains.
When crossing trackB, children
should never run across when
trains arc in sight. Before cross
ing a track, they should look
both ways, listen and make sure
no train or engine is coming.
