a hole and two Jap were blown

throw at our men and I wheeled
around and killed him.

I wan on top of the hill, running
(nun hole to hole, never missing,
till I got to the last Jap and my
gun wa empty, So 1 charged
him and my bayonet came off.
I darted to club him over the
head with my gun. I really
killed him. He quealed like a
rabbit and the hill wa our.
"I didn't realize at the time
what I had dono. The flnt thing
I knew everyone wa talking
about me. The colonel wanted
my name to recommend me (or
a medal. We atarted to go again
and I got (hot In Die left arm,
not very bad, mixed the bone.
But I wa 10 happy, because I
knew I had done my part.
"I walked back to headquart
er and the colonel came over
and shook hand with me and
he kissed me.
"He aiked me where I got all
the guta to do that. I told htm

guy named Sgt. Ishmul, we call
him Duke, got shot in the leg.
Not bad, though, because we
walked two miles to the hospital.

WOOD PULP CONTROL
WASHINGTON, June 20 (IP)
Thn war production board
(WPB) today took control over
the use of all woodpulp today
and Issued order forbidding any
deliveries of pulp to paper and
puperboard manufacturing with
out express WI'B authority.
The action was ordered, WPB
aid, because the demand of the
army, navy, lend-lease and other
claimants "have become so In
sistent and the shortugo of
woodpulp so tevere" that steps
became necessary to assure sup
piles for war use.
All grade of pulp are affect
ed, Including pulp for newsprint.
The first allocation of pulp to
mill will cover tho month of
August, and will be prepared at
tho next meeting of WPB'
allocation committee on July 10.
Before that date mill are to
have filed reports on their pro
posed use of pulp In accordance
with instruction which will
reach them by July 1.

Approval Predicted
SACRAMENTO, June 20 (IP)
Congressional approval of the
pending $28,700,000 appropria
tion for the Central project by
tomorrow night was predicted to
day by State Engineer Ed Hyatt
at meeting of the California
water authority.
Hyatt, exocutive officer of the
authority, sold he has reason
to believe that the fund, contain
ed In an Interior department ap
propriation measure, will clear
the senate-house conference com
mittee and be approved before
tomorrow's midnight deadline.
With tho now fiscal year start
ing on July 1. the bill must be
acted upon before the close, of
the current fiscal year.
