Oshkosh Plywood Goes Into
Allies' Mosquito Bombers

The birth of British Mosquito
bombers in an Oshkosh wood
working plant was disclosed to
day. Veneer from the finest birch
and maple trees in northern
Wisconsin and upper Michigan
moves out of this factory direct
to England where It becomes
wings and fuselages for the
speedy planes wreaking havoc
on Hitler's Europe.
Simultaneously, the company,
Pluswood, Inc., announced pro
duction of a new plywood, half
the weight of aluminum but
stronger than many metals.

modest but unknown boy hero
today after three-year-old Ran
dolph Scott tried to run the rap
ids of Canyon creek on his tri
cycle. Randolph, son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. R. Scott, rode his tricycle off
a bridge at Burke and was whip
ped 400 yards downstream by
the swift current. The unknown
boy raced alongside until he
gained a point where he could
reach the child, pulled him out
and disappeared.

Mrs. Dempsey More Than

married as far as I was concern
ed. . . . She was a friend." Benny
Woodall. named by Jack Demp
sey as a co-respondent in his di
vorce suit against Hannah Wil
liams Dempsey, told the court
today during heated cross-examination.
Woodall. who obviously main
tained his temper with difficulty

plied him with questions, denied
yesterday that he ever had been
intimate with Mrs. Dempsey as
charged by the former heavy
weight boxing champion.
Q. "If you had slept with Mrs.
Dempsey would you admit it un
der oath?"
A. "I wouldn't be here."
Q. "Would you admit K?"
A. "1 don't know what I'd do."
Q. "You might deny it?"
A. "I would never have been
here under those conditions. I
have no Idea what I'd do."
Benny, a former fighter and
promoter, in answer to a ques
tion from Driscoll, said he might
have telephoned the Dempsey
apartment in New York two or
three times a week aa he fre
quently called the apartment to
talk with his sister, Mrs. Jackie
Griffin, who was there most of
the time. .
Q. "Was there any married
woman you called more than
once a day?"
A. "Mrs. Dempsey 'wasn't mar
ried as far as I was concerned.
It made no difference to me. I
wasn't interested in Mrs. Demp
sey more than a friend. I was
a friend of both Mrs. Dempsey !
and Mr. Dempsey."
Q. "But It made no difference
to you that Mrs. Dempsey was'
married?"
A. "Listen. Mrs. Dempsey was
a friend; Dempsey was a friend; i
I had nothing to do with their
marital problems."

your wife was killed in Dallas
(Texas) wasn't It?"
A. "I don't remember the date.

Q. "How did you get the news
that your wife had been killed?"
A. "Babe Ritchie told me. I
was out with Mrs. Dempsey at
a restaurant" (Babe Ritchie
wasn't further identified).
