MAJOR AWARDS at-
school graduation on May the nineteenth went to
seven itudonts. Juno O'Brien was valodictorlan
for the class of '43 and' John Fletcher was . the
salutatorian. The DAR good homemaker'i award
went to Mary. Kelly. Dorothy Davis and Richard
Newman won the
awards, and Mary Landry and Richard Newman
won the coveted faculty cups. Ralph Fostor, out
standing athlete, received the Kiwanis trophy.

brary club, met Tuesday morn
ing in tho clubrooms of the
city library to discuss tho
coming year's program. Mrs.
Glenn Kent, first vlco presi
dent, presided.
Much local talent will bo
used on the 1943-44 program
due to war conditions. Mem
bers of tho committee arc Mrs.

O. Rocnlckc, Mrs. Arnold L.
Gralapp and Mrs. Don J. Zum
walt, music chairman.
Members reviewed requests
made by various members at
the last meeting of the year.
Next board session will be an
nounced by the president, Mrs.
R. E. Ookes.
During Tuesday's meeting,
it was decided to purchase a
$125 war bond for tho club.

Making News
New Arrivals and Former Residents of Klamath
Falls Breaking Monotony of Quiet Months
New arrivals, visiting In Klamath Falls, and Klamath
folks who are traveling around the country are making news,
this week. Several visitors have arrived in our town to spend
the early weeks of summer and number of informal affairs
will probably be given to break the rather quiet months during
which little entertaining has been done. '
Mrs. John Houston, wife of
the mayor, has some interest
ing things to tell about their
trip to the east coast. One of .
the thrills of their Journey
was seeing some of the new
plays in New Yerk City. "Life
With Father," and "Some
thing for tho Boys" were two
of them that the Houston es
pecially enjoyed, While at
tho theatre one evening, they
sat directly across the aisle
from Herbert Marshall and
again when they visited , the
Stork club they saw him.
They also had a chance to
see many of their friends, in
Washington D. C. They had
lunch in the famous Pentagon .
building with Captain Law
rence Slater, and visited . a
house directly across from the
White House.
Another Klamath woman
who will soon be traveling to.
tho cast coast is Mrs. Harlan
Bosworth of Conger avenue.
She will leave on Monday
night for New York City to
visit her Husband, Major Bos
worth, and on tho way she
will stop in Alameda, Califor
nia, to visit her sister, Mrs.
Max Pierce. Mrs. Bosworth
will spend most of the month
of Juno with her husband and
will return here at tho end of
tho month.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ramsby, for
merly of this city, also has
some interesting experiences
to tell. She is now in Wash
ington and one of the high
lights of her stay there was
visit to tho Russian embassy
whnro she had tea with
Madame' Lllvlnoff, Mrs. Roose
velt and Mrs. Davles.
Just arrived in this city are
Mrs, William A. Hearing' and
small son, Frederic William.
They are hero with Mrs. Hear
ing's parents, Reverend and
Mrs. Frederic Wisscnbach of
High street. They arrived
here Thursday after having
flown part way from their
home in Casper, Wyoming, Mr.

supply base in Wyoming.
Mrs. Ralph McCulloch has
returned to Klamath Falls and
has taken up residence 'at the
Kenoffel apartments on Eldor
- ado street. Her husband is
now in North Africa. .
Mrs. Rollin P. Rodolph, for
merly of this city, is here visit
ing with her husband this
week. Mrs. Rodolph now
lives in San Francisco.
Mrs. Claude Davis left this
week for St. Louis, Missouri,
to spend a few days with her
son, Lieutenant Rex Davis, be
fore his departure for overseas
duty. Upon her return, she
will be accompanied by Mrs.
Rex Davis and son "Roddy."
Mrs., Davis is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grimes
of this city. .
Lieutenant Colonel and
Mrs. Ted Gillenwaters are
now. in Ashville, North Caro
lina, as - are Lieutenant and
Mrs. Robert Thompson. AH
are former residents of this
city.

GUEST IN CITY -.FROM
INDIANA
A guest in the city this
week has been Miss Mary
Durbin of Gary, Indiana, who
is being entertained by Mr.
and Mrs. George Metz at their
home on Eldorado street.
Miss Durbin is a cousin of
Faye Durbin of movie fame.
Both she and Mrs. Metz had
. planned to visit in Seattle
with Lee Metz, but this trip
was cancelled when young
Metz was suddenly called for
overseas duty.
On. Wednesday . evening,
Mr. and 'Mrs. Francis Man
ning honored Miss Durbin at
their home on Roseway drive.
Other guests were Mr. and

res and Mr. and Mrs. Warren

Of interest to music lovers
in Klamath Falls will be the
program of a delightful
spring musicale given in
Saint Mark's rectory, in Med
ford last nvening, May the
twenty-eighth.
June Williams, soprano,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.
L. Williams of Medford took
part in the program. Many
Klamath residents will re
member her as she lived here
a few years ago. .

gram included Gail McDuf
fee, who delighted the audi
ence with her playing' of
Tchaikowsky's "Nutcracker
Suite," and Roger Wolf, piano
student.

Honor Memory of.

Members of the Sojourners
club met Wednesday after
noon in the Willard hotel to
pay tribute to the founder of
their club, Mrs. C. S. Elliot,
who passed away Tuesday.
Mrs. Guy Harmon presided
over a brief business meeting
at which time a unanimous
vote was cast for the follow
ing new officers: Mrs. E. M.
Raymond, president; Mrs
Guy Wilson, vice president;
Mrs. Glen Jones, secretary;
Mrs. H. O. Lohr, treasurer.
Mrs. Ted Reeves, Mrs. C.
L. Hubble, and Mrs. Samuel
Earhart the three remain
ing charter members of the
club each spoke on the plan
ning and the final formation
of the organization upon the
suggestion of Mrs. Elliot.
They also. touched upon the
