Mrs. Roys is widely known as
an educator and public speaker.
Bhe has had long association and
far-reaching experience in edu
cational activities and interna
tional affairs and is exceptional
ly well informed on the Chris
tian movement throughout the
world. For 16 years she was
a resident of China where
her husband. Dr. Roys, was pro
fessor of anatomy in the school
of medicine of Cheeloo universi
ty in Tsinan, the capital of
Shantung province. She it t
member of the board of foreign
missions of the Presbyterian
church, U. S. A., and a trustee
of Yenching university in Pe
king, of Cheeloo university in
Tsinan and of Ginling college
. in Nanking. She is chairman
of the promotional committee of
the Associated Boards for Chris
tian Colleges in China, coordi
nating thirteen colleges and uni
versities in China.
Mrt. Roys is a graduate of
Smith college with- Phi Beta
Kappa honors and has the hon
orary degree of Doctor of Laws,
After her graduation from Smith
she became student secretary of
the national board of the YWCA
and later served as traveling
Secretary of the Student Volun
teer movement.
Returning from China, Mrs.
Roys became general secretary
of the Woman's Board of For
eign Missions of the Presbyte
rian church, U. S. A., and was
later appointed foreign execu
tive secretary of the newly form
ed board in which the woman's
board and the general board
were merged. During recent
years she has traveled extensive
ly in the United States and Can.

On Tuesday, June 1, there will
be a meeting for the women of
: the community at 2 p. m. in the
parish house of St. Paul's Epis
copal church, at which she will
speak on the subject "The
Church Woman Looks at Her
World." This meeting will be
followed by a silver tea. That
evening there will be an open
meeting in the sanctuary of the
First Methodist church to which
all churches are invited. At this
meeting she will speak upon
"The Church the First Line of
Defense."

HERE MONDAY
Beginning Monday morning at
the Immanuel Baptist church,
there will be a vacation Bible
school five days a week for the
next two weeks. The sessions
will begin at 9 a. m. aach day
and last until noon. Every boy
and girl from four to 16 years
ot age Is personally Invited to
attend our school.
The morning will be divided
Into several periods Including
Bible lessons, handwork, chorus
singing, memory work, games
and good times. There la a fine
staff of teachers from the church
and two young women from the
Multnomah school of the Bible
at Portland who have Just com
pleted a very extensive course
in vacation Bible school work
and child evangelism.
There la no tuition connected
with this school, nor do they ask
that you be a Baptist in order to
have your boys and girls attend
the school for the next two
weeks. They will be under the
care of the teachers and, helpers
every moment, so the mothers
need not worry about them.
During this time Of letting
down spiritually, the church
feels that a dally vacation Bible
school will go a long way to
ward meeting the needs of this
community. This school is not
to take the place of Sunday
school but to help in teaching
the Word of God to the children.
According to statistics, children
will receive more of the Bible
in this two weeks' school than
they get in a whole year at Sun
day school.
