An all-navy program to which
the public is Invited will be
sponsored by the Klamath
platoon of the Oregon Women's
Ambulance corps at the armory,
Main and Spring streets, Friday
evening, May 21, at 8 o'clock.
This program is being given
In connection with the visit to
this city of the navy's recruiting
cruiser, which was expected to
arrive Wednesday afternoon.
Coming with the cruiser are
Inez Ford, yeoman 3c of the
WAVES, and Ensign Frances
Huxley of the SPARS, who will
give talks and explanations on
these branches of the sen' Ice at
Friday night's meeting, making
it of especial interest to women.
It was also announced today that
any girls or women interested in
personal interviews concerning
either of these auxiliaries arc
asked to call the local navy re
cruiting office, 3431.
The purpose of the cruiser trip
is to promote enlistments for
the WAVES and SPARS, of 17
year-olds and those over draft
age and of men for the con
struction battalion (Scabees).
With the cruiser personnel will
be Specialist 1c Stanley Church,
who is thoroughly familiar with
the army-navy induction pro
gram. Specialist Church will have a
set of chart cartoons that have
been widely used in the Portland
area before civic groups, clubs
and schools. He will also talk
on the induction process at Fri
day's meeting.

Guilty on Narcotic
Law Violation

Gene Krupa, internationally
known band drummer, was sen
tenced to serve 00 days in the
county jail and fined $500 fol
lowing his plea of guilty today to
a misdemeanor charge In a nar
cotics accusation.
Superior Judge Thomas M.
Foley said a felony charge
against Krupa, for allegedly in
ducing a minor to transport nar
cotic marijuana cigarets, would
be brought to trial June 8.

George Fields, state president
of the fraternal order of Eagles
will make his official visit to
Aerlo 2090 Friday evening, May
21. A class of SO candidates will
be initiated In his honor. A fine
program is scheduled after the
meeting, consisting of musical
numbers by Dorothy Laurcnsen,
Loyal Heath and Malcom Stlne
and his musical associates, A
luncheon will also be served to
members and their ladies.
The voting polls will open
from 1 p. m. to 8:30 p. m. Frl

fill the unexpired term of Jack
Henry, who resigned to fill the
chair as Worthy President
