IF you have any extra clothes
hangers you can do a good
J deed and give somebody a
pleasant surprise by giving
Qthem to Whytnl'sl . . . Sc--iously,
though, when I was In
the storo yesterday, they
couldn't hang up all the new
things becauso they didn't hove
enough hangers . . . And not
one Is for salo anywhere.
I overheard ono of tho sales
girls say, "Oh, If theso had only
come In before Eastcrl" . . .
But I don't think that makes
much difference . . . Spring
weather Is here now and Sum
mer is coming soon.
, You really must see all the
different things, because thore
re too many to write aoout.
Suits of all kinds for every

there's an extra collar of self'

But as I said . . . You'd bet

ntlon turns our thought
more seriously than aver to
cosmetic stockings . . .
And when you color your legs
you simply have to have them
free of huir ... So I'm going
to tn Ik about how to get along
with fewer hose.
In the first place, Currin's
has six different kinds of leg
niiikc-up . . . And tho girls can
give you first-hand information
on which kind you might prob
ably prefer.
There s Helena Ruhlnstcins
"Aquucnclc" . . . Which Is a li
quid unci purt of the lino In
vented for the girl swimmers In
tho New York World's Fair
Aquacnde.
Then there's another liquid
stocking put out under tho Du
Dnrry brand.
And two kinds of liquid hose
from Tussy . . . Ono creamy
and the other slightly oily.
And two type, by Armnnd
, , . Ono a cream and tho oth
er a liquid. .
You certainly ought to be
able to find what you want and
what will suit you from among
all these different klnd.il
And now for the hair on
your legs.
Well, have you ever used tho
famous Bollin Wondcrstoen ?
. . . It works sort of on the
principle of pumice . . . But it
is soft In Its results . . . You
rub It gently on your legs and
the hair lust falls off . . . And
the skin Is softened, too.
The "Wondcrstoen" Itself
lusts Indefinitely, but of course
it WILL finally wear down to
nothing ... So It s more ceo.
nomlcnl to get tho large $3.00
size instead of the small $1.25
one.
Anyway, I don't think I need
to warn you about shaving .
Just think of a man's beard, if
you don't believe me . . . But
If you never have taken the
hair off your legs it probably
would be all right to shave off
the long hair first, and then
k c e D the new hair invisible
with the "Wondcrstoen."
I don't know what Thelma
Davis would say about It, but
you can ask her when you go
In to Currin's.

But why tho bnby-fuco Is more

sort of in scnllops . . . With
veils, or ribbons nnd things to
dress them up . . . Because
they're not sport bennies.

Further investigation is being
made prior to a final decision
regarding payment of rent for
the local office quarters of the
war price and rationing board,
it was learned Thursday.
The offices are located in tho
IOOF building. While tho lodge
provided the quarters rent-free
for many months, it has recent
ly asked for rent payment.. The
local board was told by the
district OPA office that no
money is available for rent for
war price and ration board of
fices, but a report that rent is
paid in other communities is to
be investigated.
Meanwhile, it was reported
that other quarters have been
offered rent-free to the board.
No action has been taken to
replace Don Drury, who has re
signed as a member of the
board after serving as chairman
from its inception.

WASHINGTON, May 13 UP)
A revamped farm machinery
production program raising food
to a No. 1 priority level with
munitions and weapons is being
formulated by the war produc
tion board and food administra
tion. This was disclosed today by
M. Lee Marshal, deputy food ad
ministrator in charge of supplies,
machinery, equipment, materials
and facilities.
Enough steel and other ma
terials will be made available
for farm machinery, beginning
about July 1, to allow an output
for 1944 crop use equivalent to
about 80 per cent of 1940 pro
duction. Manufacture of ma
chinery for this year's crops wa3
held to less than 40 per cent of
the 1940 volume under a WPB
allocations program which gave
munitions priority over food pro
duction supplies.
Marshall said be expected de
tails of the new machinery pro
gram to be announced soon to al
low manufacturers ample time
to arrange for a speedup in their
operations in July.
The 1943 machinery supply
has been described as one of the
weaker links in the food produc
tion chain. Food Administrator
Chester C. Davis said recently
the supply of new machinery
for 1943 was not "entirely satis
factory in view of the high pro
duction goals."
