Prospects still are bright for an
Increase In coffee rations, OPA
officials suld today, but no de
cision Is expected for at least a
week.
Recalling prlco Administrator
Pruiitlss M. Brown's recent state
ment that an Increase was likely,
officials said there had been dis
cussions of boosting the present
ration of one pound a person for
five weeks to one pound for four
weeks or ono pound a month.
Officials explained that pres
ent stocks of coffee on hand aro
sufficient for a larger ration but
that before any action is taken
studies are being made to de
termine future supplies.

Myrtle Z. Edmonson, resi
dent of this county for the last
seven months, passed awoy near
Dairy, Ore., on Tuesday, May
11, 1043, at 12:10 p. m. The de
ceased waji a native of Wcippc,
Ida., and was aged 27 years, 7
months and 3 days when called.
Besides his wife, Hope, he Is
survived by two sons, Bobby
and Gary and one daughter, Pat
ty, of Klamath Falls; his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Edmonson of
Lowlston, Ida.; four brothers,
Baxter of Klamath Falls, Hcltzle
of Yakima, Wash., Harley of
Nampa, Ida., and Howard of
Dayton, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs.
Al Whitney of Klamath Falls,
Mrs. Rhoda Dobbs of Phoenix,
Ariz., Caddy Edmonson of Oro-
fino, Ida., and Tally Edmonson
of Lowlston, Ida. The remains
rest at Ward's Klamath Funeral
home, 025 High street, where

President John L. Lewis of the
United Mine Workers returned
to his office here today but his
press representative said he was
not seeing anyone and had noth
ing to say for the present.
Lewis had promised a state
ment on the coal mining dispute
for 4 p. m. today but suddenly
postponed it. His office said it
could give no explanation imme
diately for the change In decision
or whether any developments
are In prospect.

Pontoon-Riding Soldiers

(IP) Pontoon-riding soldiers re
ported today all refugees had
been cleared from the valley of
the rampaging Arkansas river,
whose record breaking flood
crest surged on toward Fort
Smith, Ark.
Col. R. J. McBrlde of Camp
Gruber, whose soldiers dared the
sweeping current all night and
Into the morning to bring out

reports indicated all endangered
residents had been removed.
