Buoyed by the coal labor truce,
stocks generally pushed up frac
tions to a point or so in today's
market despite considerable pro
fit cashing on the good news.
Heavy dealings in low-priced
issues helped put the 5-hour turn
over at around 2,000,000 shares,
best since April 9. Blocks of
1000 to 10,000 shares were num
erous. At peak levels for 1943 were
American Telephone, Interna
tional Telephone, Chesapeake Sc
Ohio, Standard Oil (NJ), U. S.
Rubber, Montgomery Ward, Al
lied Aircraft and Budd Mfg.
Prominent on the swing were
U. S. Steel, Bethlehem, Graham
Page, Kennecott and Du Pont.
Rail loans and American Tele
phone 3s of 1956 were rising
features of the bond division.
