strong undertone prevailed In

though trading was of only
moderate proportions, wneat aa

Rye was up a similar amount
and May oats, ahead a major
fraction, moved to a new sea
sonal high.
Cash oats were In heavy de
mand, No. 1 whlta selling as
high as 681 cents a bushel, a
new penk In the local market
since 1928.
Wheat closed i-lc higher, May
$1.48S, July $1,461, corn was
unchanged at ceilings, May $1.01,
oats advanced t-Ic, and rye gain
ed i-ic.

Anticipation of future govern
ment ordors brought consider
able activity today in the Boston
wool market. Double "A"
scoured pulled wools were sold
at a price of $1.20. Scoured
Pampas wools, 86 grade, sold at
93-04 cents and Buenos Aires
scoured wools suitable for over
coats were bought at 80 cents,
out of bond.
Gonzales Has New
Way to Quit Job
LOS ANGELES, March 24
(AP) Richard B. Hood, FBI
chief hero, gave this explana
tion of Edouardo Gonzales' ar
rest: Gonzales, 25, had a date with
a girl, wanted to leave his de
fense job early. The bos vetoed
this request.
So Gonzales seized sledge
hammer, battered away at a
steel furnace. This got him re
leased permanently.
When it was found the blows
had dislodged firebricks, put
ting the furnace out of commis
sion temporarily, Gonzales was

the 'wartime sabotage act.

(AP) President Philip Murray
of the Congress of Industrial
Organizations and William
Green of the American Federa
tion Of Labor agreed today to
reopen negotiations to halt Jur
isdictional labor disputes and
raids on union memberships.
Th agreement was arrived
at at the close of a four-hour
session of the special senate
war Investigating committee
during which Green proposed
the signing of a pact outlawing
Jurisdictional disputes for the
duration ol the war.
"I'm willing to sit down at
this table right now and sign a
no-raidlnt agreement," Green
told Chairman Truman (D-Mo,).
Murray assorted that Green
had no authority to sign with
out the tpproval of the AFL ex
ecutive council, but agreed that
be would meet him and try to
negotiate a basis of action.
