THE UNITED STATES ARMY end navy Is
well represented ,on this page because
papas of those young people are serving
In the armed forces. It's up to them, the
small fry, to plant the Victory gardens
this spring, to mow the lawn, feed Rover
and me cat, and, In general, to keep the
home fires burning so Dad can toast his
toes when he comes homo.

father who is Vernon Kuykendall, radio
technician, second class, United States
navy, San Francisco. Mrs. Kuykendall and
. her sons are remaining here at 335 Ala
meda street, until the unpleasantness is
over. (Left, above).
Plump smiles from Peter, four next
June, and Sally, 10, go to Lieutenant How
ard Barnhisel, who now serves with the
army at the Port of Embarkation, Seattle.
Mrs. Barnhisel, Pete and Sal', are at home

A jaunty angle of his sailor hat doesn't
keep Frederick, five, from being a bit
homesick for Daddy, Lt. (sg) Albert O.
Roenicke, who is up at Camp Farragut,
Idaho, with the navy. Frederick is here
with his two young charming sisters, Ruth
Alberta, six, and Virginia Lois, almost
four. Mrs. Roenicke and the children ar
at home on Portland street.
