locating one billion dollars a
year to highways during tho first
three years after tho war.
Pointing out losses from gas

a very limited amount of money
to match federal funds. Ho said
that for each $1,000,000 deficit
in match money, thcro would bo
a loss of $4,300,000 In federal

Cities would share, however,
in tho federal funds, Ualdock
said, as tho bill probably would

Tho committee recommended

has passed the house.

We know that the lot for us at home is
pretty soft compared to yours. You're dish

the sea and in the air.
At times we're inclined to grumble over re
strictions and taxes, but we don't mean it.
We're glad to do our bit.
Since you left, a lot more deductions have
crept into the payroll, but we're happy to
tell you that each of us has just donated a
half day's pay to the Red Cross.

, If any of you need Red Cross help, and
many of you may, we just want you to know
that it's provided for. We, at least, can take
care of that. The gang raised $146 and the
company came through with $200. This $346
may not sound like much, but we hope it'll
take care of your needs for another year.
You also may be sure that the joint will be

old jobs will be open. Come rationing and
