Ban On Silver Purchase Struck From -Treasury Bill WASHINGTON, March 5 UP) Senator McCarran (D-Nev.) said Thursday an appropriation sub committee voted unanimously to strike from the $1,200,000,000 treasury-postoffice bill a house approved amendment which would withhold funds from the treasury for the future purchase and transportation of sliver un der the 1934 purchase act. McCarran said that all mem bers of the subcommittee who were present joined in the action to eliminate the amendment, which was adopted February 8 by a 204 to 104 vote in the house. He predicted full committee approval of the action, adding that he was "certain" the senate also would vote to kill the house amendment.
