nament, and in matter of fact in
any game, are the foul shots.
With all of these teams so close
ly matched each foul shot has
to count. And in a close score
they decidedly make the deci
sion. During the first part of the
season the Pelicans weren't do
ing so hot on their foul- shots,
but Scott has been drilling them
every day and they have im
proved considerably.
Klamath usually always plays
the clean and fast game and
the records show that they have
always nad more chances at
free throws than the other team.
. Klamath should win over
Grants Pass if luck doesn't pre
vail. They have won over Grants
Pass before and let's hope that
they do it again come Friday
night, at 8:30.
TWO MORE
In the high school physical
fitness program Joe Peak claims
that two more men are very ac
tive in the affair. Their names
are Dwight French and Wayne
Scott, the two physical educa
tion class instructors. Frank
Ramsey's big job will be mostly
in the boxing and wrestling de
partment. . It seems that all winter these
men have had an obstacle course
in the gym and they are plan
ning to make this one station
ary. It will begin to take form
along the canal bank at any
time.
A BARREL AWAY
; Clifford Dalton. that dashing
young man about town, was
one barrel away from the Ice
Follies of 1939 and lost the
chance to skate with the beau
tiful Sonja Henie of the skating
world.
In the junior Olympics held
at Seattle our Clifford was
edged out of the first place by
one barrel. The champion, Leo
De Nowden, beat him out when
he jumped seven 50-gallon bar
rels and Cliff could only- do six.
But that one barrel edged' him
out of the chance to skate with
Sonja Henie in the Ice Follies.

How Can You
Tell What a
Coyote Is?
SALEM, March 5 UP) "Buck"
Lieuallen, Umatilla state repre
sentative, took the part of coyote
hunters this week during debate
on a bill to remove bears from
the game animal category.
. Bears, like coyotes, are major
destroyers of livestock herds,
sponsors said.
With the subject temporarily
diverted to coyotes, the Pendle
ton man declared raids on sheep
herds by coyotes were costly, yet
there existed a "belief .... that
coyote hunters shoot only the
male and leave the female to
breed so there will always be
more coyotes for professional
hunters to shoot.
"I don't know how close you
could get to a coyote to deter
mine if it is a male or female,"
Lieuallen said. "Maybe in some
parts of Oregon the female coy.
otes wear sweaters, but they
don t in eastern Oregon.

"Oregon State is sharp right
now and should give the Huskies
plenty of competition," Coach
Slats Gill said. "We are at full
strength and all the boys are fit
and in the right frame of mind."
His squad arrived late last
night. The teams divided two
games at Corvallis earlier this
season.
