STOCK MARKET
By VICTOR EUBANK
NEW YORK, March 3 ()
Stock market leader continued
to backslide today although mo
mentum was well under Mon
day's largest turnover in more
than a year, ,
Selling for profits on the Idea
the long-expected technical cor
rection might just be getting
started again was the principal
handicap. ,
The direction was downward
at the opening, with block of
"Penny" Issues running to 10
000 shares accounting tot a tut
lint hour. Dealings then slowed
appreciably and initial losses of
fractions to 2 points were re
duced near the close and a smat
tering of plus signs wa in evi
dence. Transfers were around
1,400,000 thares.

WHEAT
CHICAGO, - March?,' Vvm
Milling interests. : again " were
steady buyers of wheat futures
after a slow opening and prices
for May contracts established an
other new seasonal high today.
Mills began purchasing the bread
cereal late last week and have
been active in Use wheat futures
pit ever since. . - i .
The volume , of business has
more than offset pressure fears
hedging sales. Other grains ad
vanced in sympathy with wheat
strength, although trade in com
at the ceiling levels has been
stagnant.
Wheat closed I to le higher
than- yesterday's finish, May
$1,474, July $1,481; corn was at
the ceilings; eats . were un
changed to ic higher and rye
