STOCK MARKET
HAS BIGGEST
DAY DF 1943
By VICTOR EUBANK
NEW YORK, Feb. 10 (P)
Stock prices advanced today in
a market highlighted by blocks
of lower-priced share and a be
lated rally by steels.
Dealings in amusements, utili
ties and a few specialties many
near or under the $10 class
swelled volume past the mil
lion-share mark for the sixth
session this year, to about 1,500,
000 for the biggest day of 1943.
Encouraging interpretations
of war news helped sentiment.
Mixed reaction was accorded
the order decreeing a 48-hour
work week for many industrial
areas. The tendency of investors
was to await further implement
ing of this and of wage deci
sions before using it as a basis
for commitments.
