Dr. Noble served overseas
in the first World war as a
first lieutenant in the 168th
infantry, Rainbow division.
. He was wounded In battle and
received ' the Distinguished
Service Cross for action un
der fire. He later served as
a staff member of the Ameri
can Peace delegation to Paris
in 1919, and has been pro
fessor of government at
the University of Nebraska
and Reed college faculties for
the past twenty-two years. Ha
is an authority on problems
of war and peace, and an ar
bitrator for labor and man
agement. .
