The treasury hag ruled, In effect,
that Hoilywood'i big salar
ies may continue to the end of
1042 without regard to the szo
000-a-year-llmlt.
The motion picture salary sit
uation was not mentioned speci
fically in the ruling but it fol
lowed protests from Hollywood
against a previous decree Inter-
pretcd there as meaning that no
one could be paid more wages In
1942 than ha received in 1041,
of more than 28,00P net, which
ever is the larger sum,
There are many in' Hollywood
who already have netted at least
$28,000 so far this year and one
point raised was.whother they
could be. forced to fulfill their
contracts at no added com pen
satlon.
Specifically, the treasury said
today that 1042 salaries In excess
of 1941 salaries are permissible,
when such 1042 salaries are re
quired by a bona fide contract
promulgated before; October 4,
1042.

Old Man Winter stepped into
the picture this weekend, hurled
mammoth handsful of snow over
the mountain area and chuckled
when he saw a dozen or more
cars ditched in the Sun moun
tain district as they encountered
the first, drifts oi the season.
- Between six and seven Inches
of snow fell on the Willamette
pass Sunday and more than a
foot of snow was reported on
Sun mountain. Two snow plows
were busy clearing the roadway
and a giant Sno-Go was to leave
Klamath Falls state highway
shops Monday to smooth out the
path. No accidents were report
ed by state police other than
stalled cars. ' ' ' '
Motorists were advised the
