Workers at the Vancouver and
Troutdale plants of the Alumi
num Company of Ainc-i ica iiuu u
higher wage scale today and
company officials believed it
would alleviate the worker
shortage.
A new base pay of 85 cents an
hour was established, a 10-ccnt
increase. A bonus system was
dropped.
Under the old scale and bonu.i,
workers could make up to 821
cent.:.
C. S. Thayer, superintendent
of the Vancouver plant, said that
although the new scale was
somewhat lower than that of the
shipyards, it was comparable to
other industries in this area.
