Spokane Girl Bride
Of Ensign Adams
Ceremony Read at Five o'clock in Holy Trinity
Episcopal Church in North
Ellen Jane Hart, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Leslie R. Hart of Spokane, became the bride of Ensign Myrle
Claire Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Myrle C. Adams of this
city, in ceremony read at five o'clock Wednesday afternoon,
June the seventeenth, in Holy Trinity Episcopal church In
Spokane.
The bride, given In mar
riage by her father, wore a
powder blue suit with a long
torso Jacket trimmed with
soutache braid. Her blouse
and small veiled bonnet were
of cafe au lait and she wore
navy blue slippers and gloves.
A white prayer book with a
small spray of sweet syringa
and pink rosebuds was car
ried by the bride.
The groom wore the navy
blue of the United States navy
air corps.
' Lohengrin's pro cesslonal
was played by the organist
as the bride walked to the
flower banked altar. Just 'be
fore the ceremony tall white
candles were lighted. Sprays
of pink and white snapdrag
ons decorated the church.
Immediately after the cere
mony there was a reception
at the home of the. bride's
parents. The young couple
cut their white tiered cake
which was later served by
Mrs. Hart. Close friends of
the bride presided at the
punch bowl and coffee urn
and assisted about the rooms.
Receiving with the bride
and groom were their moth
ers. Mrs. Hart wore a print
frock with a gold jacket and
a yellow rosebud corsage.
Mrs. Adams wore navy blue
with matching accessories and
white roses.
Ensign Adams, who was re
cently commissioned at the
naval air field at Corpus
Christi, Texas, on June the
ninth, will report for duty as
flying instructor on June the
twenty-sixth. His bride will
accompany him and they will
be at home this month in that
city.
' Ensign and Mrs. Adams will
spend several days in Los
Angeles en route south. The
groom is a graduate of Klam
ath Union high school and
attended the University of
Oregon.
Mr., and Mrs. Adams re
turned to Klamath Falls Sun
day evening after a brief stay
in Washington.
FAREWELL
PARTY FOR
CHURCH WOMEN
Mrs. J. Clarence Orr and
Mrs. Josephine Morten were
honored at a no-hostess lunch
eon given Thursday at one
o'clock, at the home of Mrs.
F. W. Abbey - on Lincoln
street by the ladies of the Im
manuel Baptist church.
The Rev. and Mrs. Orr and
their family will leave early
in July for Kent, Washington,
where Rev. Orr will take over
the pastorate of the First Bap
tist church there. Mrs. Morten
will leave soon to make her
home in Portland. Gifts were
presented to both honor
guests by the thirty women
who attended the affair.
' During her residence in
Klamath Falls Mrs. Morten
has made her home with her
son, Clarence Waldo of Sum
mers lane.

The senior group of the
Congregational Community
circle met Friday afternoon,.
June the nineteenth, at the
home of Mrs. James Lampro
pulos on East Main street Mrs.
L. R. Harvey assisted as co
hostess. After a business meeting
conducted by Mrs. Harvey, the
president, lunch was served to
Mrs. S. R. Berry, Mrs. Glen

las Shaw has been set for Sat
urday afternoon, July the
eleventh, at one o'clock, in St.
Paul's Episcopal church.
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Turner
entertained at dinner Wednes
day evening at their home on
Pacific Terrace honoring the
personnel of the United States
navy recruiting cruiser which
paid a visit to Klamath Falls
this past week.

To Be Named
Seven Attractive Klam
ath Maids to Rule
' Over Rodeo
Next week will be a most
important one for seven at
tractive Klamath girls from
whom will be chosen the Vic
tory Girl to reign over Klam
- ath Buckaroo Days on Satur
day and Sunday, July the
fourth and fifth.
Named as representatives of
this district were Virginia
Howard, Roberta Tucker, Dale
and Gale Motley, Barbara
palmer, all of Klamath Falls,
Virginia Hooper of Tulelake
and Betty Ann Chatburn of
Merrill.
On Monday evening, by
secret ballot, the Junior cham
ber of commerce will name
the Victory Girl. Only mem
bers of the committee will
know which of the seven has
been selected on the basis of
personality and charm, and
not until Monday evening
when the Victory Girl is
crowned at the dance, will her
name be announced. This is
going to be a difficult Job for
the judges as each of the
seven is exceptionally attrac
tive. Dances are planned for Fri
day and Saturday evenings in
the armory. Inasmuch .- as
Klamath folks are doing more
staying at home - and less
traveling, an exceptionally
good crowd is expected at the
Victory dances. Much enter
taining will be done this
week after the Klamath Buck
aroo Days shows.

PARTY ON
TUESDAY
Mrs. Rose M. Poole enter
tained with a matinee at the
Pelican theatre on Tuesday for
the pleasure of Miss Winifred
Lamm of Modoc Point and her
two cousins, Ella and Edith
Fisher of Santa Barbara, who
are here for a part of the sum
mer at the Wilfred E. Lamm
home.
Following the theatre, the
guests had tea at Mrs. Poole's
home on Conger avenue. The
hostess was assisted by Mrs.
Lamm and guests included
Ella and Edith Fisher, Wini
fred Lamm, Joan Campbell,
Rose Macartney, Janice Bubb,
Mary Jane Drake and Mary
Lou Johnson.
Mrs. Stuart Hurd of Eugene,
who has been here as the guest
of her sister, Mrs. Alfred D.
Collier, LeRoy street,' has re
turned to her home in the valley.

ON BIRTHDAY
Little Nancy Elizabeth War
ren shared birthday cake with
a group of little friends Fri
day afternoon when her
mother, Mrs. Lane Warren,
invited playmates to her
home, 746 California avenue.
It was Nancy's fifth birthday.
Games were played on the
lawn and the cake cut when
guests were seated about a
decorated table with balloons
and caps as favors. Honoring
Nancy were Janet Jones of
Portland, Margaret Higgins,
Sandra LaPlante, Sonja Bor
reson, Bonnie Borreson, Au
rora Provencal, Margaret
Redkey, and the honor guest's
grandmother, Mrs. Ludvig

COMING FROM THE CHURCH
In a simple ceremony read at five o'clock Wednesday, June
the seventeenth, Ellen Jane Hart of Spokane became the
bride of Ensign Myrle Claire Adams of this city. The service
took place at Holy Trinity Episcopal church in Spokane.

Weatherly Trophy
Activities for Women of .Rearnes Golf and
Country Club .End for Summer Season
Mrs. William J. Grove of Merrill will find her name en
graved on the Weatherly cup as the result of the tournament
which ended Friday morning at Reames Golf and Country club.
Mrs. Grove defeated Mrs. T. Frederick Farley but not until
the twenty-first hole.
Both women played excel
lent golf and were tied at the
end of eighteen holes. They
played on until Mrs. Grove
was one up and the tourna
ment play came to an end.
It also ended competitive play
for the year.
Mrs.. Charles V. Rugh de
feated Mrs. . Marvin Nerseth
in a match during the week,
and then defeated Mrs. Wil
fred E. Lamm for first place
in the second flight.
Those wishing to play dur
ing the summer are asked to
keep' their five best scores
over a period of two months.
An award will be made in the
fall, it was announced.
Following golf luncheon
was served in the clubhouse
and bridge played by several
tables during the afternoon.
Friends greeted Mrs. Henry
Nicholas Moe, member of the
club, who has been in Pasa
dena for the winter months.
Last week's card honors for
north and south went to Mrs.
Peter A. Albertson and Mrs.
Guy Hancock; east and west
to Mrs. Byron Hardenbrook
and Mrs. Roy Rakestraw. Fri
day's bridge also ended cards
for the summer months.
Hostesses for the day were
Mrs. Harry Land, Mrs. Frank
Tarr, and Mrs. Earl Weimar.
It was announced that those
.who wished to have lunch at
the clubhouse make their res
ervations for Friday on Thurs
day. Twenty members of Reames
auxiliary gathered at the
home of Mrs. George H. Mer
ryman Sr., on Thursday at
half past one o'clock to make
khaki kits for men in the
service; Several dozen kits
were made during the after
noon. The women will prob
ably finish this project next
week but will continue to
sew each Thursday t Mm,

is need.
Mrs. Ted Shoop entertained
at her home on North Second
street Tuesday evening for a
group nf friends with bridge
followed by late coffee.

Mrs. J. Martin Adams and
two young daughters, Sharon
and Sandra, will return here
within five or six weeks to
resume their residence at their
home, 801 Roseway drive.
Captain Adams has left for the
east coast and will soon leave
for foreign duty with the
United States army medical
corps.
Captain Adams and has fam
ily have been at Fort Lewis,
Washington and Portland
since they have left here. He
also took special medical
work at Randolph field, Texas.
Mrs. Charles Fairall enter
tained at her home on Auburn
street for members of her
bridge club Thursday evening
of this week. A guest was Mrs.
Julian Abbott.

up volunteers in Women's
Auxiliary Service,
The senate naval affairs
committee today begins con
sidering a bill Introduced by
Senator Walsh (D-Mass.) to
place women in non-combat
shore jobs, thus releasing men
for more active duty.
This bill, which makes the
auxiliary branch of the naval
reserves, does not go as far
as bill, sponsored by Rep.
Mass (R-Mlnn.) and already
passed by the house, which
would take women right Into
the navy.
While the two branches o(
congress seek agreement on

navy department went ahead
with discussions and plans set
ting up the corps so as to be
ready when It Is created.

ary the admirals and captains
