Cob Hunt on Pacific Terrace.
Guests were shown through
the Iris garden, especially

year, and tho sun obligingly
brightened for tho hours when
guests were enjoying the

Convention
Spokane Is Host City
To Nile Members Dur
ing June
Mrs, Florence Davis of Spo
kane, Weshlngton was elected
queen of the supreme temple,
Daughters of the Nile, at tha
nutlonal convention held tha
fore part of June in Spokane,
and one of the most import
ant announcements revealed
at this year's session was that
111,000 worth of defense
bonds have been purchased by
the temple in addition to all
pledges being fulfilled to the
Shrine hospitals for crippled
children.
Word was brought back by
those attending from Zulelma
temple that the Klamath Falls
Nile club was especially men
tioned by the supreme queen
for work accomplished in be
half of the Shriner's hospitals
in this district. Providing
funds and equipment for
these hospitals is the main
objective of this organization.
Mrs. Margaret Fabrick of
Medford, queen of Zulelma
temple, and two of her offi
cers, Mrs. Obera Dunn of
Ashland and Mrs. J. H.
Poppy of Klamath Falls,
boarded the Nedla temple
special car at Portland, con
vention bound. At Pasco,
Washington, they joined Zora
temple of Tacoma, arriving in
Spokane that evening at the
same time as the queen's spe
cial of fifteen cars. Mrs. Hen
rietta Sheasley of Pittsburg,
Pennsylvania, supreme queen,
headed the sixty-three tem
ples represented from the
United States and Canada.
Fifty-four reigning queens
were in attendance.
C o n v e ntlon headquarters
were located at the Daven
port hotel, and Spokane car
ried out its reputation as
"The Friendly City" through
many courtesies extended the
visitors. An impressive dis
play of illuminated letters
three feet high, installed by
the power company, wel
comed the Daughters of the
Nile.
N u m e roua entertainments
interspersed the various meet
ings, . and drills were held
each evening by twelve pa
trols and chanters from three
temples.
Most outstanding fea'.ure of
the convention, according to
the delegates, was the gor
geous pageant staged in the
Nile temple when the patrols,
wearing a variety of uniforms
of yellow, green and white,
presented ; intricate ' drills.
Mrs. Sheasley, presiding over
the pageant, wore a robe of
nile green chiffon velvet, bor
dered in gold and lined in
white satin, and with a fili
gree gold collar,
Because of the election of
Mrs. Grace Cost of Sacra
mento, California as Badoura,
the Nile convention in three
years will again be held on
the Pacific coast. Next year'a
meeting, providing it is not
postponed, will be' at Syra
cuse, New York.' Another in
teresting note is that Mrs.
Davis, who will remain as su
preme queen this year, is a
past grand matron of the
Order of Eastern Star in
Washington.
A formal report of the con
vention will be presented by
Mrs. Poppy at the first fall
meeting of the Nile club.
At the June meeting of the
club, held at the Willard ho
tel, the lunrhpon tables wcra
arranged in a victory design
and were decorated in a pa
triotic motif with red, white
and blue carnations. The af
ternoon's hostesses were Mrs.
Ted Shoop, Mrs. Jerry Ricker,
Mrs. V. J. Josephson and Mrs.
Eugene Larsen.
Honors at bridge were re
ceived by Mrs. E. Mi Chll
cote, Mrs. Harry Wayne and
Mrs. John Kenoffel.
Members will do sewing and
knitting for children at the
Shrine hospital during the
summer months, but regular
meetings of the club were ad
journed until autumn.

twenty-seventh and twenty
eighth at Del Monte hotel,
Del Monte, California.' Due
to the central location for the
western clubs and the fame
of the beautiful Hotel Del
Monte and grounds, a large
crowd is expected to attend.
Representing the Klamath
Falls Toastmistress club as a
delegate is Mrs. Myrtle Hlb
bard who will serve as chair
man of the educational com
mittee. Mrs. Hibbard is also
a member of the varied pro
gram trophy committee. Dele
gates from the middle west
and eastern states are expect
ed to attend. Several of the
Klamath Falls Toastmistresses
are planning to motor to Del
Monte for the occasion.

ning of this week, at the Mc
Leod residence. Barbara was

dent of Mrs. McLeod. After
the recital refreshments were
served to a group of friends
and relatives.
A feature of the program
was the last three numbers,
composed by Barbara Zinn,
who recently graduated from
the seventh grade of Fair
haven school. The three num
bers were entirely Barbara'!
own work and show wonder
' ful promise in the field of
musical composition. Miss
Betty Yadon graduated from
Klamath Union high school in
May.

pressive service which took place at two O'clock Sunday after
noon, June the fourteenth, In the First Methodist church. The

Mrs. Z. W, Dixon, regent of
Eulalona chapter, Daughters
of the American Revolution,
this week received notice
from the rational Society
of DAR, of a resolution adopt
ed at the recent Continental
congress held in Chicago, to
the effect that a file of the rec
ords of all Daughters who have
given three hundred hours or
more of service in any branch
of the national defense pro
gram Is to be kept at Wash
ington D. C. This will be a
permanent record in the so
ciety's headquarters in the na
tion's capitol of the patriotic
services of all Daughters dur
ing this war.
Mrs. Dixon asks all mem
bers of the local chapter to
keep this hourly record of
their work so that the chap
ter may be able to report all
such services. Hours served
in the ambulance corps, first
aid classes, Red Cross, United
Service organizations, or in
any branch of the defense pro
gram are to be counted.
Members of Eulalona chap
ter are proud of the fact that
their regent has won her first
stripe as private, first class,
in the Oregon Woman's Am
bulance corps. This honor was
won by Mrs. Dixon, Tuesday
of this week.
