Soroptimists to Aid Nursery School; Mrs. Sabo
To Attend National Meeting
A large birthday cake with four candles centered the
luncheon table at the regular meeting of the Soroptlmlst club
of Klamath Falls, Thursday, the date having fallen on the an
niversary of the club's Installation, June the fourth, four year
ago.
Lighting the candles were the past presidents of the club.
Mr. Laura Bertram was represented by the most recent addi
tion to the club, Mrs. Jennie Southwell, who lit the first can
dle for Mrs. Bertram, absent from the city, who served the
club as president during Its first year. Mrs. Effie Garcelon,
second president, lit the ec-
ond candle, followed by Mr.
Robert Odell and Mrs. Ruby
Lyle.
Recommendations from the
board wero adopted, among
them being the contributing
of financial eld each month to
tho nursery school conducted
at the Mills grade school. The
officers wero Instructed to
send a gift to the new club In
Missoula, Montana, which will
be Installed early In June.
Instead of a prolonged va
cation during the summer
season, It was decided by the
club to have six wcks of vaca
tion beginning July sixteonth,
and two weeks at the end of
1042, for tho convenience of
those members engaged In
merchandising who find a
heavy tax on their time during
tho Christmas season.
Plana are being completed
for President Coral Sabo to
attend the Cleveland conven
tion the latter part of June.

Needlework Held Un
til Fall
The final meeting of the
year of the Art Needlework
club waa held on Wednesday
afternoon when Mrs. George
Chastaln presided as hostess
at her home on Pine street
For the potluck luncheon
enjoyed at one o'clock the
small tables were centered
with purple and yellow viola.
About the rooms were tulips.
Iris and lilacs. On the mantel
a suggestion of springtime in
the Klamath hills was carried
out by an artistic arrangement
of branches of blooming
greasewood in an antique
china teapot of white and
' brown. The afternoon was
spent in reminiscing, sewing
and conversation.
.The annual election of offl
ccrs resulted in the selection
of Mrs. Z. J. PoweU for presl-
dent Mrs. George R. Hum,
vice president, and Mrs. Alice
Z. Goeller, secretary and treas
urer. This was the final meeting .
of the club until fall when
activities will be resumed.
