the colleges can and will piny.
This was evident today after
Lieut. Frank Wlekhorst hod
asked both 'the University of
California and Stanford for a
place on their schedules for his
naval air cadet training team
at St. Mary's.
Both Stanford and California
also acknowledged through their
graduate athletic managers that
some revamping of the confer
once schedules will be necessary
next week at a meeting in Port
land, Ore., to make room for the
service teams and also to adjust
lo the Golden Bears' new three
semester academic program.
"Wo will attempt to localize
our schedule to fit war condi
tions," said 1 Masters, the Stan
ford graduate manager. "It Is
likely that tho entire football
schodulo of tho conference will
bo arranged at Portland next
week to accommodate changes
caused by California's adoption
of a new full year semester
schedule."
Ken Priestley, graduate man

national ski jumping honors are
scheduled to make exhibition
jumps at Ruud mountain, March
29, following the Harriman cup
and international ski races.
Tokle, holder of the world's
record for ski jumping, will ap
pear with Alf Engen, winner of
the national two-way combined
championship at Yosemite last

DENVER, March 19 (UP) The Hollywood Twentieth-Centuries
breezed Into the quarter-finals In quest of another national
AAU basketball championship Wednesday, but their perform
ance was overshadowed by a bunch of kids with jaw-breaker
names from Chicago's South Side.
Tho Chicago "V" Clippers, who sold their blood for $10 a
pint so they could come to the world scries of cagedom, came
from behind to defeat the Midland, Mich. Chemical A. C. team,
30-34, In the biggest upset of
the third round.
The Clippers will meet the

champs, Thursday night. The

Centuries, defending champions,
displayed all the power of an
armored division as they went
into the quarter-finals with a

cates. The Denver Legions, cham
pions in 1937 and 1939, eased
through to a 63-29 victory over
the Portland, Ore., Bradfords to
gain the quarter-finals for the
ninth time in 10 years. Big Bob
Gruenig, former ail-American
center, and Bill Strannigan,
Wyoming University all-cc.ifcr-
ence guard, led the Legions with
12 and 15 points, respectively.
