Marines Seeking -Radio
Technicians '
For RADAR Corps
Radio technicians and RADAR
maintenance men are wanted by
the marine corps immediately,
according to Staff Sergeant Carl
K. Cook of the Klamath Fall
recruiting station. , ; ,
Applications will bs accepted
from any- man 17 through 38
years of age, holding a high
school diploma and an amateur
radio operator' license. In the
absence of above license, a man
may have a commercial radio
telegraph "or radio operator'! It
cense or have been engaged' In
actual repair of radio equip,
raent for at least three month.
Upon passing the physical ex
amination, such an applicant
will be sent to the base signal
battalion at San Diego for furth
er assignment to a special course
in RADAR maintenance. Recruit
training is waived and a rating
of staff sergeant is offered im
mediately. Men who fail tn
qualify in the schooling will 'be
discharged or retained in the
service for other duty as re
quested. .. -,
Others with less experience
will be enlisted for general ra
dio duties, given regular recruit
training, and then , assigned to
the signal battalion as privates.
Those who fail in this schooling
will be retained for general duty
with the marine corps. , i

cation or authority for access
to vital defense plants, Rear Ad
miral C. S. Freeman, command
ant of the 13th naval district, in
dicated today. In a letter ad
dressed to the managements, of
commercial plants of importance
to naval procurement in the
thirteenth naval district. Includ
ing oil companies, utility com
panies, transportation companies
and certain warehouse and stor
age companies, the commandant
said, "All guards protecting the
entrances of establishments of
importance to the navy's na
tional defense program should be
directed and Indoctrinated in
the fact that persons Sn uniform,
as well as others, shall be re
quired to furnish proper cre
dentials of Identity and author
ity to enter such areas."
