lack of trading incentive due to
war news and tthe prolonged
wait for congressional action on
the farm bloc move to halt gov
ernment soles of wheat and corn
at prices below parity.
The market's sluggishness was
a counterpart of the slow milling
and commercial trndn as most
Interests, farmers to consumers,
awaited developments. ,

one time but closed unchanged

Friday by the appellate division,
New York supreme court, in dis
missing a complaint of Rep.
Edwin A. Hall (R-N. Y.) against
the Blnghamtofi Press company.
The vote was 3 to 2.
Hall's suit for $75,000 was
based on editorials published
Feb. 10. 11 and 12 last year,
criticizing his vote against the
lend-lease bill approved by con
gress. Presiding Justice James P.
Hrtl said In a majority opinion
"national legislators who par
ticipate in the formation of gov
ernmental policies should be
held to the strictest accountabil
ity. "This Is promoted through
free exercise of the right to
criticize official acts. The peS
pie furnish legislators with an
extensive and expensive secre
tariat and give them the right
to use the mails at public ex
pense. "With these opportunities of
personal praise and propaganda,
opposition newspapers and edi
torial writers should not be lim
ited to weak, tepid and supine
criticism and discussion."

Two classes In cantonment
carpentry have been started for
men who wish to take a short
course qualifying them for Jobs
on Medford and Corvallis army
camp construction projects. De
fense Coordinator A, H. Fitch
announced Friday.
The classes are being held In
Klamath Union high school
quarters and are ot 12 weeks'
duration, Fitch said. However,
many men may be called sooner
depending on their past exper
ience, he said.
Fitch said the course it not
designed for training men for
general carpentry but only for
specialized units such as nailing
siding, framing, flooring and
other specific jobs. Related
work is given in blueprint read
ing, rafter cutting, nailing, types
of saws and other classes of In
formation which may be needed.
Those interested were atkad
to contact Fitch at the defans
office in the high school or
anyone at the United States em
ployment office at 242 Main
street.
