Midland road, l-31mtf AabA&U and fyinaHcixd CHICAGO, Jan. 15 (P) Prof it taking attracted by wheat prices near peaks since 1037 and hedging sales to offset purchase of grain from the commodity credit corporation choked off a temporary rise in the cereal mar ket here today. Wheat and rye were up about a cent early in the day, due part ly to buying stimulated by up ward revision of one cent in min imum prices at which the gov ernment is offering its old wheat for sale and to brisk flour busi ness reported overnight. Later selling became more pronounced and prices slipped below previ ous closing levels. Minneapolis reports Indicated that possibly as much as 250,000 bushels of wheat were hedged there against purchases of "free" or government wheat. Traders pointed out that the fact that minimum CCC prices had been raised does not necessarily mean that actual asking prices have been altered inasmuch as this wheat was quoted at premiums over minimum figures in some terminals. Wheat closed unchanged to ic lower than yesterday, May $1.31- 1.JU4, July $l.3Zi-; corn un changed to ic off, May 86i-86c, July 87J-8c; oats unchanged to Ic up; rye unchanged to ic low er; soybeans 2-2ic higher. Soy beans were up as much as 3 cents at one time due to short covering and buying attributed to processors. S. F. LIVESTOCK SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO.
