Archbishop Edward D. Howard
ordered changes in the time of
masses in all Catholic churches
throughout the archdiocese of
Portland In Oregon Thursday to
conform to blackout regulations.
Portland priests were ln
structnd not to hold masses be
fore 8 a. m either dally or
Sunday. The time during which
masses may be offered on Sun
day was extended to 12:19 p. m.
The late Sunday mass was sub
ject to three restrictions: That it
be a high mass; that diocesan
"church music regulations" , be
adhered to; thot a sermon ' be
preached. y
