THEFTS REPORTED
Numerous small thefts were
reported to city police over the
weekend and a warning was is
sued by officers to hunters
against leaving equipment in
unlocked, cars. Guns and shells
were among the articles reported
missing.
-While he was at breakfast in
a Main street cafe early Sunday
morning, Cy . Wallan of 1745
Wall street, had the following
stolen from his car, a 20 gauge
shotgun, a hunting coat with
three boxes of 20 gauge shells,
and four boxes of the same type
shells.

street, reported to police the
theft on Saturday of one movie
camera and one Baby Eastman
pocket camera, from ' his car
parked on South Sixth street.
One Ranger double barrel
shotgun, valued at $26.93, and
an Elgin watch, were reported
stolen by Andrew Voss, from his
cabin on Lost river sometime
Sunday.

a black leather case from his
car, the case containing barber
supplies Including one pair of
clippers, five or six combs, and
two boxes of cartridges, the
amount totaling $40.

tion students gathered at com
mencement exercises in the
radio operating hangar at Scott
Field, 111., recently, Private
Bob J. Mitchell was among the
graduates to receive a diploma
for his excellence and efficiency,
according to Col. Wolcott P.
Hayes, commandant.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe J.
Mitchell, Rt. 3, Box 194, Klam
ath Falls, Ore. Pvt. Mitchell
completed last week a 23-wcck
intensive course In radio theory
and mechanics which has qual
ified him to be sent to Hamil
ton Field, Calif, as an expert
technician.
Graduates last week were ad
dressed and congratulated by
Cnpt. Carl Swyter, supervisor
of tlio aircraft radio division of
the army's radio university,
who told the graduates that
they were vital keys in nation
al defense regardless of the post
to which they were being sent.
Although Scott Field has been
graduating approximately 300
radio technicians every two
weeks, the post will bo expand
ed by the end of this year to a
capacity of . 20,000 graduates
every year, making the univers
ity the largest school of its kind
in the country. The school is
open to all enlisted men or se
lectees who have a high school
education or Its equivalent. ,
