Christian Endeavor convention
which will take place in this
city April 24-27.
Dr. Balrd Is one of the out
standing leaders of the Presby
terian ohurch in the U.S.A. to
day. He has always been par
ticularly interested in young
people and has taken an active
part In furthering their organi
zations. He has spoken for many
conferences, conventions, so
cieties and on college campuses.
He has been an international
trustee of Christian Endeavor
since 1935 and In 1940 was one
of the principal speakers In the
International Christian Endeavor
convention In Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Baird has written much of
the material which Is used in
Presbyterian Sunday school les
sons, Including "Church mem
bership and the Church," "Great
Christian Leaders," and "Christ
ians Everyday." He also con
tributes to 'Today" and other
church periodicals and Is the
author of "God's Law of Life."
Dr. Balrd received his A.B.
as well as his D.D. from the Col
lege of Wooster. He was grant
ed a B.D. from McCormlck The
ological seminary. He has serv
ed churches In Rexburg and St.
Anthony, Idaho; Youngstown,
Ohio; Boise, Idaho, Pomona,
Calif.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and
tho First Church, Oakland,
Cnllf., from which he was called
to the chair of practical the
ology and the presidency of Sun
Francisco Theological seminary.
He Is a member of Phi Beta
Kappa, Chi Alpha, and Rotary

Gold will be selected from girls
from all southern Oregon towns.

selected by local Judges and
crowned queen of festivities for
the district for the coming year.
Nicholas G. Smith, president of

States mission, will crown the
queen.
