WOOL MARKET
BOSTON. Feb. 21 (AP-USDA)
A waiting attitude predomin
ated in the Boston wool market
today. Buyers were showing no
interest in greasy combing do
mestic wools except for special
ties such as low quarter-bloods
or for an occasional very small
quantity of some great to piece
out stock for immediate need.
Holders of territory wools were
maintaining quotations at last
week's levels. Combing three
eighths territory wool, which is
currently one of the most plenti
ful grades of domestic wools on
this market, was quoted fairly
firmly at 80-82 cents, scoured
basis.

other wave of buying swept
wheat prices upward more than
two cents a bushel, today, to
within fractions of the peaks
reached yesterday. Just before
the close, however, about a cent
of this gain was lost as a result
of profit taking.
Buying was associated with
reports of improved flour busi
ness, Canadian export sales and
war news from Europe, the most
alarming of which was the Rus
sian bombing raid on a Swedish
frontier village.
Wheat futures closed 1-11

GRAVEL ORDERED
FOR POE ROAD
Members of the county court
xuesday gave instructions to
have four truckloads of gravel,
obtained from the Merrill gravel
pit, put on the North Poo Val
Icy road, where mudholes and
ruts during the past several
weeks have caused the discon
tinuance of mail service.
It was expected that the serv
ice, on rural route 2, will be
resumed the latter part of this
week. Several residents of the
upper valley have been forced
to come down for some distance
to get their mail, due to the im
passable road conditions.
