JUDGE DIES AFTER
HEART ATTACK
ONTARIO, Dec. 21 (F) Cir
cuit Judge Charles W. Ellis, 59,
died last night. .
The ninth circuit jurist was
stricken while dining at a restau
rant with Mra. Ellis. He died a
short time later at Holy Rosary
hospital. ,
Judge Ellis, a native ot Illinois,
waa appointed to tha bench In
December 1034, by tha late Gov
ernor Julius Meier. Ha waa elect
ed for a six-year term In 1936.
He served aa Harney county at
torney for tbe atate land board
from 1910 to 1914 and aa senator
from the 32nd district In th 1921
and 1923 sessions.
Judge Ellis attended th Uni
versity of Michigan and received
his law degree from th Chicago
Kent College ot Law In 1903.
He came to Oregon 80 yeara
ago, settling In Burns. In 1936
he moved to Ontario.
