SISKIYOU DAY JIT
Saturday, August 12 will be
Siskiyou County day at the Gor
don Gate International exposition
with headquarters at the Shasta-
Cascade Wonderland building.
The date was set and all arrange
ment are being made with tbe
special event department of tbe
World fair by tbe 8hata-Cas
cade Wonderland association at
tbe request of the Siskiyou coun
ty board of supervisors. Al
though tbe board asked for
August 12 or 19, tbe twelfth was
selected because on that date
there will be few conflicting
events on Treasure Island.

of northern California and south
ern Oregon to be recognlted by
an official day at the exposition.
Shasta county was first on May
20, and Jackson county was sec
ond on June 3. Tbe only Won

A brand Inspector for each
county of Oregon has been ap
pointed by J, I). Mlckle, director
of Iho state department of agri
culture. In compliance with a new
state law which provides that all
horses, mules, asses and cattle
being shipped out of the state
from any county must be inspect
ed for brands.
In addition, out-of-county In
spection Is required In all eastern
Oregon counties and three west
ern Oregon counties, Douglas,
Jackson and Josephine.
Deputy brand Inspectors have
been appointed In about halt the
36 counties.
The law provides that live
stock owners, before shipment Is
made, must furnish the brand In
spector or his deputy with a list
of brands, age, sex, color and
flesh marks, against which day
light Inspection must be made
by the county Inspector or his de
puties. Animal must be cbecked
over for brand In groups of not
more than five, tbl to be don
In pen and not In truck.
Provision Is made for penalties
ranging from 1100 to 12600
against various violations, Includ
ing those on part of the Inspec
tor, the owner or custodian of
livestock, the common carrier or
hauler.
Fees collectable are 10 cents
per head up to 25 head, with
three cent per head for addi
tional stock; and 10 cents mile
age one way.
CHILOQUIN FIRE
FIGHTERS CALLED
BY TWO ALARMS
CHILOQUIN. July 21 (Special)
The Chiloquin fire department an
swered two call Tburday.
Thursday night the equipment
was rushed out to a grass fire but
was returned when It was found
the fire was outside the city
limits.
Early Thursday morning a gar
age and woodshed serving the
homes of Swan Munsen and
James A. Itiley waa destroyed.
Munsen lost about 1200 worth of
tools and personal effects.

CHILOQUIN, July 21 (Special)
A pageant was staged on I.nrkln
creek Thursday night by the Camp
Fire Girls of Chiloquin under the
leadership of Mrs. Roy Gienger
and Darlene Warren.
Supper was served at the spot,
five .miles north of Chiloquin. for
parents and sponsors who had re
ceived written Invitations.
Fourteen of the 16 girls In the
Camp Fire group took part In the
pageant and sang songs. Mrs.
Gienger and Miss Warren present
ed beads, pins and bracelets earn
ed by the girls In Cnmp Fire work,
E. E. Evans of Chiloquin high
school spoke to the girls on
"Trails." About 75 people wore
present and lunch closed the
mcutlng at about 10 o'clock.
