buyers or sellers, atock market
leaders generally were left to
drift in varying directions during
today's brief aesslon.
While minor decline were In
the majority, a few utilities end
specialties managed to make the
grade for modest advance. Nu
merous lssuea were unchanged in
dealings that barely kept the tick
er tape In motion.
Commission house customer,
brokers aaid, were disinclined to
take any pronounced position eith
er way In view of possible happen
ings over the weekend both at
home and abroad. At the same
time sentiment apparently con
tinued to reflect the recent ability
of the market to override a wide
assortment of "had news."
Steels marked time a little
change wan predicted in next
week's mill operatlona. Ralls
moved narrowly while awaiting
the Interstate commerce decision
on freight rates. Motor were
still under the Influence of the
Chrysler dividend commission
and General Motors' "whit col
lar" salary cut.
