CANDIDATES
Oral examinations were given
here Saturday to a number ot ap
plicants for position' with the
Oregon state unemployment com
pensation commission. The ap
plicants examined Saturday took
written examinations late last
month.
Six were interviewed by the ex
amining committee, composed of
Dr. R. R. Martin, Dr. Nelson Boss
ing and Dr. Lester F. Beck. all of
the University of Oregon. Blanche
Bouthillier accompanied the ex
aminers as receptionist. The ex
aminations were held at the Wil
lard hotel.
While here the committee an
nounced new competitive examina
tion' for which applications must
be in before midnight. December

A general election will be held
Cu the Klamath Indian reserva
tion on Tuesday, Dec. 21, for the
selection of eight Klamath busi
ness committeemen.
Polling places will be at the
library in Chi loquin and the
Methodist church in Beatty. The
polls will be open from I a. m.
to 8 p. m. Twenty-one candi
dates have been nominated.

Maccabees Organise----The Mac
cabees are organizing a lodge in
Chi loquin in Union hall on Mon
day, December 30, at 4 p. tn., for
the juniors, and p. m. for the
adults. There will be installation
at both meetings. and initiation
will also be held. State Manager
D. V. Chapman and P. D. Smith
and A. W. Smiths district man
agers, will also be present, as well
aa a large delegation of members
from Klamath Falls.
Thursday Club Members of
the Thursday Sewing club of the
Mt. Laid district met on Decem
ber 16, at the home of Frieda En
man. Seven members were pres
ent, and refreshments were served
by the hostess at the close of the
afternoon. The next meeting of
the club will be held December 30,
at the home of Leona Hayes. Elec
tion of officers and a gift exchange
will be held.

day for Portland where they will
meet Stebbins' brother, O. L. Steb
bins of Crookston. Minn.. whom
they have not seen for seven years.

his sister, Mrs. Cora Graden, all
of whom will spend Christmas
with the Stebbins here.

Houck of the Keno road reported
to city police Friday night that a
dog poisoner was at work in that
district. Houck stated that he let
his dog out at 8 p. ra.t and that
he found it dying of poison a few
minutes later.

sprained ankle Saturday morning
when he slipped and fell on icy
steps of the city hall.

SET UP SATURDAY.
AT COURTHOUSE
A big Christmas tree made its
appearance in the main floor hall
of the courthouse Saturday. It
was appropriately decorated with
lights and tinsel.
Elaborate outdoor decoratons
have been provided for the city
hall, with colored lights stream
ing from the upper part of the
building to the pillars at either
side of the front steps.

Chamber of sommerce start
members were receiving many
compliments Saturday on an out
door lighting display In the win
dow of the Main street quarters
across from the courthoueb.
Purpose of the display is to
stimulate interest in the outdoor
lighting contest sponsored by the
Lions club. AU who wish to
enter this contest should register
at the chamber of commerce by
Monday evening. The Lions are
urging everybody who plans an
outdoor display to register.
